Swim Classic 2020 Wrap Up
The 2020 Portsea swim classic was the 34th running of the event. Once again the Portsea swim classic gold 2.5 km race was sold out at a very early stage. In addition the Portsea swim classic 1.5 km race once again sold out. This year we welcomed two additional swims to the event being the 500 metre Portsea junior swim classic and the Portsea tribe swim 500 metre female teams race. In all we had a record 2,457 swimmers in this year’s Portsea Swim Classic.
We once again enjoyed ideal weather conditions with a sunny 28 degrees and an easterly wind to assist the swimmers. On cue the resident dolphins also joined the race to the delight of swimmers and spectators.
Once again in the males Sam Sheppard took out the double winning both the 1.5km Portsea Swim Classic & the 2.5km Portsea Swim Classic Gold.
In the females Kelly Stubbins took out the 1.5km Portsea Swim Classic and Portsea’s own Domi Hart took out the 2.5km Portsea Swim Classic Gold.
Thanks must go to all our wonderful gold sponsors being Blazer, Porsche Centre Brighton, Lojac & Gurner St Moritz for their generous support.
Thanks also to our silver sponsors Swimming Australia & People 4 Oceans skin care. Finally, a big, big thank you to all of our hard working & enthusiastic members who pitched in to make the day a huge success & cement the Portsea Swim Classic as the best swim on the open water swim calendar.
