Time to get excited – we are into December and will shortly commence the 2019/2020 Portsea Nippers Program. Just a few matters to consider in advance of the start of the program:
Registrations into the program closed in early November 2019. We have over 520 participants enrolled at present with a number of additional prospective participants wait-listed – we are capped by the sizes of the age groups and the extent of Age Managers, Nipper Helpers and Water Safety personnel at our disposal. If you are able to assist in any way, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org . We would love to have you involved (as would the kids…!).
Note: Due to initial problems with our registration system in the first hour of the registration period, some participants may have received a confirmation of enrolment, but were not charged for the program. You should check that funds have been withdrawn at the time of registration. If you genuinely believe that you are impacted (no need to confirm if you have had funds withdrawn) and have an enrolment confirmation email issued by the club, then please contact email@example.com and we can verify your participation in the program. We are setting a cut-off date of 16 December 2019 for you to respond (if applicable).
All Portsea Nippers program participants are required to either attend the accreditation swim on 14 December 2019 (at the Geelong Grammar Wellness Centre in Toorak as previously advised) or provide firstname.lastname@example.org with an appropriately authorised relevant competency declaration by this Friday (13 December 2019). We will not be holding any accreditation swims during the program (Under 7s will undertake their assessment on Day 1 of the program). No accreditation, no water activities, no exceptions – we cannot be any clearer on this requirement. Accreditation wristbands will be issued on Day 1 of the program and are to be worn throughout the program.
Wait-listed participants entering the program will be assessed separately. Further details will be provided in due course if this is to occur.

Competition Day – date to be advised.
The program starts at 9:30am (sharp) and will finish by 11:30am (sharp). Please sign-in well in advance of the start of the program….and remember to sign-out!
Under 7 – 9 – Quarantine Station – unless you are notified of a “Ripper Nipper Day” to be held at the Portsea Back Beach (conditions dependant)
Under 10 – 13 – Portsea Back Beach
You need to ensure that you bring with you:
- Portsea Bathers
- Portsea Rashie*
- Portsea Skull Cap*
- Pink Water Visibility Vest*
- Water Bottle*
- Wetsuits are optional
*Included in the Nipper Packs (see below).
For those attending at the Quarantine Station, please obey all parking requirements – overfill parking is available at Gun Junction – see attached:
Failure to obey parking restrictions will put the Nipper Program at risk – please don’t be that person…!
All parents are required to be on the beach during the program. Please do not wander off, do the “dump and run” or simply not turn-up – your kids will appreciate your support.
Distribution of Nipper Packs
Nipper packs will be distributed early next week.
Under 13 Boot Camp
All places in the Under 13 Boot Camp (to be held on 3 January 2020) have previously been filled and participants notified. If you have not paid for your notified child’s attendance, please do so by Friday 13 December 2019 otherwise your child’s place in the Boot Camp will be allocated to a child on the wait-list.

Nipper Parents and Friends Cocktail Party

This is a great night at The Club and a great chance to meet other parents and non-nipper parent club members – get on board for a night of fun and frivolity – and a whole lot of dancing to the Scott Carne Band playing all the classic hits from the last 30 years.
Junior Swim Classic
Registrations are now open for the inaugural 500m Portsea Junior Swim Classic (to be held on 18 January 2020 at 11:00am sharp at the Quarantine Station). Registrations are limited to 100 participants (first in basis). This promises to be a great element of the broader Portsea Swim Classic to be held on the same day at the Quarantine Station.
