With the dust settled on the official opening, the building team are back to work on the site finishing off some of the remaining works and ironing out the defects which are typical of a job of this size.

Over the next week or so we will have the TV screens and projectors installed that will form an important part of our educational set up. This will make it far easier for us to utilise all that modern technology can offer in a teaching setting, and will be well used by our camps as well as other groups using the facility.

Connectivity in the Clubhouse is really important, and to this end I’d like to thank the Club’s IT Director James Nola for his work in the building. James took last week off work and spent the week at the Clubhouse working with the electrical contractor to ensure that we have all the bells and whistles, and know how to get the best out of it.

This week we also took delivery of the walkway that will wrap around our impressive control room. IB will also be installing this over the next week.

Once the builder has finished, our civil works contractor will return to put the finishing touches on the access road.

Another major project is the revegetation of the dune below the Clubhouse. Those that attended the Clubhouse opening will have noticed the geofab that had been laid to assist with dune stabilisation. Assuming that the weather starts to change, our plan is to completely plant this area out during May and possibly into June. Re-establishing and maintaining this vegetation is a major priority for the Club.

The consultations and planning for the relocation of the eastern pathway also continues. This work is scheduled to take place over three months from July-September.

Away from the site the Facilities Subcommittee and the Operations team are also chipping away at refining the operational model, and preparing to move all of our equipment into the building. More on this in future eBoomers.
