Platinum Camp – 2026

This past weekend 22 candidates took on the cold winter conditions down at the club on our largest ever ‘Platinum Camp’.

The camp is Portsea SLSC’s newest addition and sees candidates undertake 2 days of Search and Rescue training to gain their Silver Medallion Search and Rescue award.

The weekend was awesome with Eliza McNamara and Georgia Ross leading the candidates through various learning and practical activities with the help of a great instructor team, upskilling them with key leadership qualities and exposing them to the various teams behind a search and rescue effort.

Candidates had great fun in the sun on Saturday the 15th, completing water rescues and pier entries at one moment and the next, having the exhilarating ride on the back of Henry’s LSV jetski. Everyone was smiling through the brain freeze and enjoying themselves.

We were lucky enough to have a surprise visit from Southern Peninsula’s Rescue Vessel, as well as guest speakers from Victoria Police and Lifesaving Victoria.

All candidates demonstrated great leadership qualities whilst tasked with difficult scenarios over the weekend and all looked to be having fun.
