Event Recap – Platinum Camp 2024

The 2024 edition of Platinum Camp continued to establish the program as a mainstay in the Portsea education pathway. Across camp’s three days, another 10 Portsea members obtained their Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue (SMAR) award. With Portsea being the only active club in Victoria currently offering this qualification, it was great to watch our next generation of leaders build on their previous lifesaving experiences and develop their advanced rescue and incident management skills. Unlike the typical August forecasts, the weather stayed sunny and clear for the duration of the camp, resulting in many of the candidates remarking that Platinum had been their favourite program to date. It will certainly be reassuring to see them in action on the beach and keeping beachgoers safe for many summers to come.
