Every summer, thousands of beachgoers rely on the vigilance, skill, and dedication of Portsea Surf Life Saving Club’s volunteer lifesavers.
For over 75 years, we’ve proudly protected the iconic Portsea Back Beach – one of Victoria’s most challenging and dynamic coastal environments.
Since 1949, our members have saved more than 5,500 lives. In the past decade alone, we have taken more than 20,000 preventative actions to keep swimmers safe. We provide education opportunities to more than1,500 new and requalifying lifesavers every year.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the generosity of our community to continue saving lives, training the next generation of lifesavers, providing competition opportunities and maintaining critical rescue equipment and facilities.
Any donation to any of these 4 pillars is fully tax deductible (find some equivalent words). Portsea SLSC is registered with the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission and all donations are tax deductible (Portsea SLSC has DGR status).

- Lifesaving patrols to protect swimmers and surfers along our rugged coastline
- Competition such as Nippers carnivals, open carnivals, IRB racing and Masters competitions
- Community Education Programs for Peninsula based primary aged students around water safety and surf skills
- Future Building fund which assures the upkeep and development of our future club
