SCHEDULE & OVERVIEW OF THE DAY

TEAM 500m Swim

• Open division for Teams of two or more swimmers
• Age: 8 years and above – 8-11 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.

1500m and 2500m  Swims

• Minimum age is 12 years for entry into the 1500m and 2500m event (on the day of the PSC-25)

GOLD – 2500m Swim –
Due to its overwhelming popularity, we now have 2 waves for the 2.5km GOLD event.

• Wave 1 – Competitive swim and for those wanting to also compete in the 1.5km
• Wave 2 – Social swimmers

Please nominate Wave 1 or 2 at time of entry and if swimming as a group please ensure you discuss with others in your group which Wave you wish to swim together in.
Please note that each wave is restricted to a maximum of 350 swimmers.
The 2.5km is an Open division for all swimmers 12 years and above at the date of the event.

TEAM – 1500m Swim
Please nominate Wave 1 or 2 at time of entry and if swimming as a group please ensure you discuss with others in your group which Wave you wish to swim together in. Please note that each wave is restricted to a maximum of 150 swimmers.
The 1.5km is an Open division for all swimmers 12 years and above at the date of the event.

Classic 1500m Swim

Male and Female

• 12 – 17 years (Youth)
• 18 – 29 years (Open)
• 30 – 39 years
• 40 – 49 years
• 50 – 59 years
• 60 – 69 years
• 70+ years

Junior 500m Swim

Male and female

• 8-10 years
• 11-13 years

Please note: Silicone cap is presented prior to the race with other merchandise post-race

Each competitor will be issued with a transponder, which they will be required to wear around their ankle at all times during the race. Transponders will be returnable this year and are to be returned at the Merchandise tent in exchange for your Race merchandise again this year. Transponders must be worn on the outside of the competitor’s wetsuit (if applicable).

At bus marshalling zone, 40 minutes prior to your swim start time.

All car parking will be located at Jarman oval inside the Point Nepean National Park at a cost of $5 per vehicle. The $5 fee helps Portsea SLSC offset the significant traffic management costs required inside Point Nepean National Park.

During the Portsea Swim Classic, qualified surf life savers will monitor swimmers safety from the water. Please do not hesitate to call for assistance if required by raising your arm in the air.

Medical assistance is readily available on the beach.

Consider wearing a wetsuit for extra warmth.

To maximise your safety during the race, you will be placed in a colour-coded swim group according to your anticipated swim time. It is imperative that all entrants swim in their nominated cap colour-coded group.

Note: Some tidal movement may be experienced in the area of the swim. However, the timing of the swim has been set to maximise your safety.
