January 14, 2026IMPORTANT UPDATE
2026 Portsea Swim Classic Weather Forecast and Course update:
As you may have seen, strong winds are forecast for Saturday’s event. The wind direction has been predicted to be from the ESE. This will create some choppy conditions, although the coastal headland does provide some protection under these conditions. (This is a different direction to last year and should result in improved conditions).
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we will set the course close to shore, and will encourage swimmers to maintain a line close to the buoys.
Swimmers are advised to recognise their own skills and limitations. If you have a wetsuit, this will improve your buoyancy.
If during the swim you need help at all, remain calm, raise one arm and wait for assistance or simply “TURN LEFT” – swim for shore and have a rest before re-starting your swim.
Please ensure you are aware of your personal limitations and DO NOT take unnecessary risks.
