PSC Ferry Info

For those wishing to travel to Portsea from Queenscliff, please note the following:

The passenger ferry service between Queenscliff and Portsea was terminated in 2004, leaving the Peninsula Searoad car ferry service between Queenscliff and Sorrento the only regular service across Port Phillip Heads.

Portsea SLSC is pleased to be able to offer a shuttle bus service for those competitors who wish to leave their cars at Queenscliff and travel as a pedestrian on the Peninsula Searoad service.

The shuttle bus will depart Sorrento pier following the arrival of each ferry from Queenscliff between 7:40am and 10:00am for an express journey to Jarman Oval where the Portsea Swim Classic registration area is situated. The service will then return competitors to Sorrento pier at the conclusion of the Swim, departing Point Nepean from 12:00pm, with the last bus to Sorrento at 2:00pm. The cost will be $5 per passenger each way. The bus will be clearly marked “Portsea Swim Classic” and will pick up competitors adjacent to the entrance to Sorrento pier, setting down on the asphalt car park adjacent to Jarman Oval and the registration area.

Peninsula Searoad operates car ferries which depart both Queenscliff and Sorrento hourly between 7am and 7pm daily for the approximate 40min journey.  Passengers may travel with their vehicles or as pedestrian traffic. The cost for pedestrian travel is $10 each way for an adult or $8 for children. Please go to  for further details. If you’re travelling from the West Coast for the Swim, we hope you take advantage of this service.  For any enquiries, please email
